Apparently Wilbur Kookmeyer could also see the future (or at least Wilbur's author, Bob Penuelas, had a good hunch for fortune telling.)
The whole Alaia board craze is worthy of at least a few posts. Without getting too analytical about prehistoric nostalgia, I thought it was worth pointing out that Kookmeyer saw the Alaia kooks coming.
Surfer Magazine ran this cartoon, detailing the average surf kid through time, in 1989.
Kookmeyer sees the future.
Penuelas was prescient on at least two future trends:
Bonzer Eggs being trendy in 2010 (I'm counting on Thomas Campbell to make it happen).
Bonzers Big in 2010
and the whole Alaia thing. Notice that surf history begins and ends with the following:
Barefoot, naked, riding a "chunk of wood." Are the end days near?
