But after some now-sober consideration, maybe it was undeserved. As was Jordy's win over Dingo and Jihad's over Tim Reyes. Hey, we all get caught up in the moment. To be really critical he didn’t land it clean but it was pretty sick considering it came right after a little pop double grab. Dane probably thinks he didn’t deserve the 10 but there was a lot of boring heats and he really woke up the judges.
I saw it, I liked it. Dane’s leaving Jordy in the dust.
The real question is who has the best claim for an average wave. Jordy leads that category hands down.

You got that right brother. Remember last year at Chopes when he (Jordy) was claiming that air and Dane was in the background getting barreled out of his mind with no claim at all?
Dunno if Dingo should have got the 6.51 he need on his last wave (he got 6.5). It was a big wave & long, but he he surfed it pretty safe. These comps shouldn’t be wave catching contests.
I was watching the Dane heat and was like 10 right as soon as he did that. Then I watch it on replay and I was well that was rad, but not a 10 because of the boggs in between. It was rad, but not a 10. I’d give it a high 9 without a problem.
10 should mean 10 no faults in form.

it would be one thing for cj to talk about double grabs if ANYONE enjoyed watching him surf. (he gets long barrels…but turns, come on) perhaps a bethany hamilton style surgery would help his limp-wrist style.
CJ and Damien are two of the best backside surfers on earth. Bethany was a victim of something that won’t happen to you, Dave. You don’t surf. The Hobgoods are top ten talents, any wave, any day.

ZIING! I don’t surf - you got me! Not really sure how 2 and 3 stage top turns make you the best backsider in the world. giving a little but wiggle at the top of the wave does not mean you are destroying the lip. Do you really think the hobgoods do the same kind of turns as andy, dane and kelly?
the only turns andy is making are towards the local meth house…
