So, why would they risk going for a stalefish when the easier double grab gets the score (even when the surfer holds on to the rails until they land)? Is it just me or does Jake Patterson sound like Stewie from Family Guy? Watching on-line or videos doesn't really do his surfing justice. I used to wonder why all the fuss, his surfing seemed good but basically the same as the other pros. Now I know why, He hits angles differently, gets more creative at different places and times too. His laisaiz faire attitude comes with the fact that he knows he will blow it trying weird stuff more times than not, and thus doesn't get to stressed about it. He's trying to progress. Judges are rewarding these nuances cuz they are human and get freakin bored seeing the same stuff over and over. Kelly knows how to sell a turn. That's why they freaked when Dane did 2 and gave him a 10. They need to get a bunch of young competent surfers on the panel who actually know what's going on or we are going to end up with some wacky scores.
