Here's the thing about comments on surf sites: People usually only bother to comment on a post for one of two reasons.
1)They really, really like what they just experienced (about as prevalent per capita as female ejaculation).
2) They're really, REALLY pissed about something (Seems to happen all the fucking time on this site.)
Naively, I'm going to encourage all my readers to comment for a third reason: To make your voice heard in our surf community. Engage in some thoughtful debate with other members of this community.
Some of you are starting to do that already - this week we saw some respectful interchanges amongst like-minded intellectuals.
We even had some theological debate going on! (Somone suggested I read a book that helps you find success in the work place via the teachings of Christianity.)

Hey dr. I dont believe God is some invisible man in the sky. God is part of that feeling you get when you see your first child being born. God is there when you get through surfing perfect 10 foot Sunset Beach all afternoon and as your driving home a double rainbow is stretching all the way across the sky from Pipeline to Kaena Point. God is there when you are STRUGGLING to support your family in a tough economic time and you are in a commission only sales job and as you are taking a shower in the morning you have tears in your eyes as you pray to God to help you make a sale that day so you can feed your kids. God is there when get caught inside at Ocean Beach or Mavericks. God is in Iraq. God is in Africa. God is even in Marin County. God is there when someone leaves an a.a. meeting after being sober 3 months and pulls into a liquor store parking lot trembling, sweating and dizzy trying to fight the urge for another drink. God is there when your dog jumps into your lap after a tough day.God loves you dr. and god loves Lewis Samuels and I think God might even love Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank. Do you really believe our world is just a collection of gasses and vapors and the sun and that there is no spiritual creator with a grand design? If so than I feel for you buddy.Hopefully you can find God someday.
Don’t forget, God is there to help the Giants win the Super Bowl and to help CJ Hobgood win heats and to help Dion Sanders play two sports and to help Tim Tebow beat OU. God is there for all of us just when we need him the most, like at sporting events!

Wow!!! Pirate salsa is on fiyahhhh!!!! And I feel as if he and Drew really dont like me. Lewis I apologize for getting this started on this killer website that is about surfing. I was born in Alabama and moved to the Bay Area when i was 9 and started surfing in Santa Cruz when i was 12 then moved to hawaii when I got out of high school. When i was a teenager ( late 70s ) i was surrounded by counter culture types around Santa Cruz and San Francisco and the entire coast in between where we surfed all the time. I have always questioned the Vietnam war as well as our reasons for going into Iraq. I share many of the same views that many who have spoken out against me here on this page have. All I am saying is that our country seems to be following Obama blindly and it doesnt seem as if anyone, especially the mainstream media, is asking him tough questions. It is scary. I believe America is a great country. We were founded on the very principles which my buddy Pirate salsa seems to be against. No taxation without representation. I want to be free. I cherish freedom. I dont want the government involved that much in my life. i want the government to be open and honest. Obama PROMISED that and he hasnt fulfilled that promise. I have had some tough personal experiences in my life that i wont go into but I will just say that things have happened to me that brought me closer to God. Thats all. I believe in God.
