PostSurf is on the road for the next few weeks.  With any luck, I'll be spending time surfing instead of writing about surfing, meaning posts may be sporadic.

For now, let's drink deep of some chilled visions from photographer Rambo Estrada, a PostSurf reader from Middle Earth.

More of his work can be found on his blog.

Unlike his namesake, ol' Rambo is just getting started in the game of surf photography.  Part of the PostSurf project involves me sifting through the debris of surf culture.  I often emerge from each  dumpster-dive stinking of filth and sick about the world.  But every now and then I'll come across little frozen moments that get me excited about surfing.

Rambo's photos are one such find.

Mr. Estrada is currently competing in Stab's Little Weeds.  Go to his page to vote for him, American Idol style.

so if you want to live in NZ, where’s the spot for work and waves?

props. Where you heading to Lewis?

Has anyone checked out the voting for the “All-star” comp at this years US Open (http://www.worldprosurfers.com/vote/)? How the hell does Aritz Aranburu have over 25% of the votes (~1300 out of ~4700)? The next highest vote getter is Taylor Knox with 625. Dane Reynolds only has ~200! The website states: “WPS reserves the right to discount suspect or ineligible votes.” The results look pretty suspect to me.

  • Moskova says:

Max if you use your common sense, you’ll figure out why Aritz has over 25% of the votes. go on give it a try.

  • Jeff Sackman says:

Prolly because 3/4 of Euros work 30 hours a week. While the rest are on the permanent dole.

    They have the time.

  • Billa Wrong says:

Those peaks on that first shot are absolutely sick.

Where the fuck is that place?

  • trauzersnake says:

Obiously, with a “free market” mentality there’s no way for us to acheive that. Even ZQK is trying to make a $ billion and 1. Any ideas….Mark? Otherwise, what does it take to earn citizenship there??

    This is a Caption-fest:

The first picture looks like two hooded cobras about to plant their fangs in the succulent underbelly of Mark’s mother’s thorax.

Left to right, top to bottom:

A malignant tumor, fading through its bottom turn, looking to find purchase in Mark’s mothers gaping fallopian tube.

Cyclops vaulting over the geyser of Jean Grey’s nether regions after her first viewing of X-Men Orgasms: Wolverine.

Drew Courtney’s furrowed and perplexed forehead each time he hears his name mentioned at the final call for a WCT heat.

Nathaniel Curran’s furrowed and perplexed forehead each time he hears his name mentioned at the final call for a WCT heat.

Another Goodasskiss clone, somewhere, ripping the shit out of a shoulder high wave with no heat whistle to rattle his nerves.

Mark’s mother’s toilet bowl when she shits ‘left-of-center.’

Me. Yep, just having some fun amongst the folds of Mark’s mother’s cellulite ridden arse after a thorough spanking by my Elephanititis stricken right hand.

SmyrnaJeff’s balls shrink in the foreground, as their monstrous 3” master erects itself before them in all its glory.

@Jeff Sackman & we may also have the time to visit this shitty blog… but only on flat on-shore sundays like today my son!

  • A Basque guy says:

Some europeans work 35 hours a week, but most of us do 40 hours, which is more than enough for the salary we earn.I think Aritz has that amount of votes cause most of the Basque surfers are supporting him.So you know what you have to do…Support your surfers and vote them.USA is a huge nation if you compare it with the Basque Country, so your surfers should have much more votes than Aritz.Don´t be jealous guys, just vote
By the way, very nice pictures in this post.I would like to go there to catch some waves….Enjoy your holiday Lewis

Hey Stu, good question. Depends on what type of work you want to do? There are not many decent sized cities with good waves near by, so juggling work and surf can be tricky. New Plymouth and Dunedin are your best bet, small cities but amazing waves in both areas.

Billa Wrong, those twin peaks are deep at the bottom of the South Island. If you wanted to surf that place today make sure you pack a 5mm steamer, hood, booties and gloves.

  • pablo says:

Rambo Estrada has the best name in the world. Sam Hammer is now 2nd place, with nascar man Dick Trickle taking 3rd.

  • Mario Van Peebles Jr. says:

    @Pablo,

    Love it!

What about Roy Powers? Or, Marlon ‘Nips’ Lipske?

Or, for those who used to live in LA: Mitch CupJack?

Best name in the world for a female surfer? How about Drew Courtney? With Dayyan Neve a distant second.

  • That is known that money can make us disembarrass. But what to do if one does not have cash? The one way is to try to get the business loans and short term loan.
