We make all of this more complicated than it is.

The water holds no answers.  I don't hold any either.

Sometimes it's enough to bear witness.

I like the one of Blacks.

  • The . . . universe . . . is . . . exteremly . . . complicated.

    The . . . water . . . does . . . hold . . . answers.

    Bearing. . . witness . . . is . . . an . . . illusion.

    Photographs . . . provide . . . no . . . corroboration.

  • . . . even . . . I . . . sometimes . . . misspell . . . “exteremly” . . . = . . . extremely.

  • that chic with the tree on her head is highly fuckable!

  • did anyone see kelly’s 10? pretty good.

  • Things that make you go hmmm says:

I wonder why Lewis is taking so long to post the new rankings? Is he surfing? Does he have writers block?

Is he stuck working his regular job because he is broke?

    Hmmmmm.

  • Dr. X says:

Lewis is probably surfing… good for him!

SO WHERE DID EVERYONE SURF THE SOUTH SWELL?

Dr. X: Surfed a nice reef break north of Santa Cruz. Great rights up to 2 feet overhead on the big sets.

  • Mark says:

    Ala Moana Bowl.

  • Loving Jewish Couple says:

Kelly’s 10 was better than the birth of our son. Coincidently, he broke his leash on the inside, akin to the magic snipping of the umbilical cord. Even though he’s Lebanese, we love him so.

I’m watching the Joel Tudor/Herbie Fletcher noserider comp at Huntington right now and it’s really taking me back. I remember the days at 1st Point Malibu when me and the boys would pull out the old logs from the wagon, paddle out, ride to the beach and then have jet ski assistance back out to the lineup.

Stephen Hawking is into surf photography?
Amazing that would not have occurred to me!
    Hi Stephen!

  • Surfing Terrorist says:

Lewis, besides being lazy and not following through on your Power Rankings (first major sign that you’re starting to get over writing a surf blog that only gets 500 daily uniques and literally doesn’t pay a thing), I’m very disappointed in what I discovered yesterday.

You have a twitter page: http://twitter.com/postsurf Sad dude.

On top of that, you SELF-PROCLAIM that you’re “The most hated man in surfing.” Isn’t that a little pathetic? If everyone in surfing hates you, what’s the point of repeating it? Thought you were a more secure individual than that.

Not to mention bro’ing out to Homer Simpson aka Chris Cote. Double sad.

  • Surf terrorists is a hater! Quit hating and go surf

  • surfcheck says:

Fleishhakers yesterday sucking sandbar got worked, swell is hitting Ocean Beach pretty good but marginal conditions and big tide swings, the incoming tide combined with south swell this morning swept me from the Fulton sandbar to Kellys 3 times in a row no matter how hard I paddled, had to walk back down the beach each time.

  • Robert's Your Mother's Brother says:

    @’Loving Jewish Couple’

What you wrote is funny. However, Mr. Slater is of Syrian ancestry.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_Slater

And has anyone seen Homer Simpson and Chris Cote in the same place at the same time? Regardless, they are both bald dufus’.

  • surfcheck says:

I like the Lennox head photo. Australia has so much good surf- maybe the most. I learned to surf when my dad was stationed there in the 70’s- Manly, North Narrabeen. Did you know Oz has 2 million self-described surfers in a population of 20 million (10%)-, the US has 3 million surfers in a population of over 300 million (1%). Not that it helps in socal- but I surfed with one other guy yesterday on the incoming south swell at OB- it looked pretty much the same as Huntington in the contest, crumbly walls but some long-period energy.

  • Loving Jewish Couple says:

    @Robert’s Your Mother’s Brother
Thanks for correcting me. Not Lebanese. Syrian. It’s mostly due to the fact we were dancing cheek to cheek, rose in mouth, to The Human League’s The Lebanon last night. Honest mistake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEsRYkRpySY

  • Old School says:

Hey surfcheck what the fuck are you the public relations manager for Ocean Beach? ” I surfed with one other guy yesterday at OB”. Shut the fuck up and quit blabbing on the internet about our spot. Everyone knows OB sucks on a south swell.

Go back to Capitola you maggot.

  • surfcheck says:

    @old school-
I can walk to the beach in 10 minutes. There’s no problem you’re right I see the good side but basically it’s been shitty for a long time, don’t see more people showing up unless its sunny and small.

  • Ocean Beach says:

Yeah, no one’s ever heard of me until Surfcheck started blabbing about me. I was more underground than Lunada Bay. You all should stop talking about the world’s most well kept secret.

  • Old School says:

More people won’t show up unless gay pride advocates like you keep cheerleading about how empty it is. I know who you are. Watch it.

  • God says:

You humans will fight over anything, Ocean Beach is a cruel joke on you!

  • tnt says:

lewis, are you going to continue making us suffer through your godawful poetry? kindly respond to this post at and let me/us know so I can make up my mind whether or not to ever visit here again. gross

  • Christof says:

Fugg youguys are tough critics! Be a bit grateful any of this is delivered to us - and despite those thatmay protest, this is a worthwhile and essential blog. Lewis- look forward toyour next rant!

  • Surfing Terrorist says:

You are indeed correct Christof. This is hands-down the best surf blog out there. And Chris Cote looks like Homer Simpson.

  • Surfing Terrorist says:

*Wasn’t trying a play on words. Do think this is the best surf blog.

  • Dave Mailman says:

While you’re waiting for Lewis to get back on the piss and back to work, check this out for a little entertainment….

  • @ . . . Ramsnake:

    I . . . am . . . not . . . into . . . surf . . . photography.

    I . . . landed . . . on . . . this . . . site . . . quite . . . by . . . coincidence.

    I . . . was . . . doing . . . a . . . Google . . . search. . . for . . . the . . . terms . . . “retro-ball-licking” . . . “climax” . . . “sweaty thighs around a man’s head” . . . and . . . “clasping his protesting face to one’s balls”.

  • Surfing Terrorist says:

Dave Mailman = FreddyP’s bitch sidekick who does all the gruntwork for insurfnewssucks.com

  • Dave Mailman says:

Actually, no. I just thought it was a funny video, with a good portion of the Top 45 on the terps and playing with new hair styles and dress codes. Would have made for some good comments from BR, but then LS put up a new post so no one will read this anyway!

  • tnt says:

Surfing Terrorist, this is the best surf blog? thats saying alot - what other ones are there? the goods? the gudauskas bros? come on, even in that company samuels isnt exactly the brightest crayon, he’s just the loudest …

  • Robert's Your Mother's Brother says:

    @ Loving Jewish Couple

Loved the vid. Couldn’t make up my mind between the dark haired babe or the blonde one.

I can see why you were confused about Slat’s origins.

  • As a Newbie, I’m often searching on the web for articles in which can help me. Thank you
